That app was located here for me: Finder > Applications > Microsoft Office 2011 > Office > Microsoft Database Utility. First open the mmc tool by typing mmc in the search box: Expand the tree on the left side ( Certificates (Local Computer) / Personal / Certificates ), select the Certificates node and locate your certificate. Simply put, to create a new Identity, you use an app called Microsoft Database Utility. I found that the location for the Microsoft Database Utility was just a bit different that listed in that post.

After a bit of googling, I found this article, which gave me the information I was looking for. You simply need to create a new Identity. The functionality I was looking for does indeed exist on the Mac, it’s just not called the same thing or located anywhere similar to that of a Windows PC.

After some research, here’s what I found out. You need a suitable software like Microsoft Outlook from Microsoft to open an OLM file. Other files associated with OLM include: PST, OLK, OST, CSV.

However, I could not find anywhere to create a new profile on the Mac. Outlook 2011 for Mac can import OLM files and export them into various other file types such as CSV.

In the Import tab, select Outlook for Mac archive file (.olm) then click Continue. See the steps below to access the OLM files: In Mac Outlook 2016 or 2019, on the Tools tab, choose Import. Now in Windows, I will normally create a new profile and configure it myself to make sure all the settings are correct. You need to have Mac Outlook on your system for executing this method. The client initially configured email, but was having an issue with it pulling mail. Office 2011 on Mac no longer includes Entourage, but instead has introduced Outlook.

Yeah, right….I have a client the bought a new laptop and went with an Apple Mac Book Pro instead of sticking with Windows. After all, OS X is not supposed to be as much plagued as Windows with process cleanup issues and the like, and should not, in principle, require frequent reboots. If none of the above works, don’t give up, try searching another trick in another forum (now that you have a backup of your files) 🙂Īll this may sound Woodoo. Once the Outlook database is successfully rebuilt, try launching Outlook 2011 againģ) If that doesn’t work, reboot the Mac and try launching Outlook 2011 again Therefore, if you have this issue (Outlook 2011 for Mac not starting up), you could try the following steps:ġ) First, just reboot the Mac and then try launching Outlook 2011Ģ) If that doesn’t work, try rebuilding the Outlook 2011 database following Carl’s instructions in this forum post but, beforehand, make a separate backup of the plagued Outlook Identity (normally “Main Identity”) from the Finder, just in case. That is a possibility that I can’t easily verify at this time. Now I am thinking: Maybe a reboot was all that was needed in my case which did not necessarily require rebuilding the database. However, rebooting the Mac afterwords did the trick.

At first, this did not work for me (but read on): Outlook 2011 would still refuse to start up (just showing a brief splash screen and then aborting, same as before) even AFTER successfully rebuilding the Outlook database following the instructions here.
